This is my mom and I on the day of graduation

Dear World,

My name is Peta-Gaye McLaughlin and next to my name stands the word resilience. I was born in Kingston, Jamaica. I left my family and friends behind when I was nine turning ten. Upon moving to the United States, I have grown immensely both academically and personally. Though it was challenging at first, I stood my ground and took opportunity that I was given. If it wasn’t given to me, I went for what I wanted. Last but not least, I thank the people that have helped me for coming this far, and for my sixth grade teacher for getting me into the creative aspect of things.
