Childhood Innovation: Flintstone’s Car

Greetings: Hello everyone!

Teach: How to be resourceful with the materials in your environment

Created: Impression of Flintstone’s Car as a childhood innovation

Background: As a child

-bored/the older kids weren’t around as much

-find creative ways to entertain myself

-when they did come around

-used juice boxes into toy trucks among other things

Transition: Just for you guys, I was able to put together a power point to illustrate how to build my Flintstone Car

Turn to power point

Part 2: Explaining what I did

  1. Design the car + laser cut the pieces needed

-Regular scenario use cardboard boxes, ruler, a pencil

  • Create the hood of the car + glue them together
  • Create the bottom part of the car (go back to previous slide)

-Pipe cleaners though holes

-Bottle covers have holes + put them on

-Glued puff balls to add surface area

-Apply glue to connect the pieces together

  • Glue the windows in

-Put the straws on + glue back straws in

-Glue the popsicle sticks + use heavy item to hold it down

  • Glue the doors (slid in doors)
  • Bend the front straws (90-degree angle), cover the roof with colored paper to hold straws down efficiently with glue.
  • Decorate to whatever degree you’d like
  • Here is a list of materials I used
  • How long did it take? 3 hours

Big Take Away

Closing: Although I might not have had a childhood like most kids, this skill has helped me cherish the finer things in life.
